Outbreak of Pasteurellosis in Captive Emu Birds and Detection of Virulence Genes in P. Multocida Isolates
نویسندگان
چکیده
Avian pasteurellosis caused by Pasteurella multocida was reported among 180 species of wild birds but not reported so far in emu birds. Several emu birds were reported to have died over a period of one week in an organized emu farm. Necropsy findings revealed typical haemorrhagic lesions and characteristic bipolar organism, suggestive of avian pasteurellousis. Two Pasteurella multocida isolates from heart blood were obtained and characterized. Pasteurella multocida Polymerase Chain Reaction (PM-PCR) using the specific primers confirmed these isolates as P.multocida. Capsular PCR revealed the presence of serogroup 'A'. Among four important virulent genes in P.multocida two genes, pfhA and hgbB, showed significant association.

Distribution of virulence adhesion associated genes and antimicrobial susceptibility in Pasteurella multocida from ovine pasteurellosis in Iran
Pasteurella multocida is an opportunistic pathogen responsible for pneumonia of lambs and goats, respiratory atrophic rhinitis of swine. Although the molecular basis of the pathogenicity and host specificity of P. multocida is not well understood, several studies have reported that a number of proteins are correlated with the pathogenic mechanisms. Adhesins have a crucial role in mediating colo...
متن کاملPrevalence of adhesion Virulence factor genes, antibiogram, and pathogenicity of avian Pasteurella multocida isolate from Iran
Pasteurella multocida possesses various virulence factors, including capsule, lipopolysaccharide, fimbriae, toxins, outer membrane proteins, and adhesions. Adhesins have a crucial role in mediating colonization and invasion of the host. The aim of the present study was to identify the prevalence of adhesion factor genes and resistance/sensitivity patterns among the avian P. multocida isolates f...

The present study was carried out in order to isolate, identify, and assess the antimicrobial susceptibility of the causative agent(s) of pneumonic pasteurellosis in sheep in East Azerbaijan province, northwest of Iran. Pneumonia was detected in 320 cases, and the affected lungs were sampled in the slaughterhouse. The samples were investigated bacteriologically for the isolation of two microorg...

The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of STEC and EPEC strains and E. coli O157 serogroup in some Equidae and Canidae. The fecal samples of 79 animals from 6 different species were evaluated for presence of these strains. All the Isolates were tested for virulence genes using multiplex-PCR. متن کاملOmpA protein sequence-based typing and virulence-associated gene profiles of Pasteurella multocida isolates associated with bovine haemorrhagic septicaemia and porcine pneumonic pasteurellosis in Thailand
BACKGROUND Pasteurella multocida is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes economically significant infections of a broad range of animal species. Pneumonic and septicaemic pasteurellosis caused by this bacterium remain important problems in pigs, cattle, and water buffaloes in Thailand. The aim of this study was to characterise the virulence-associated gene profiles and to develop an OmpA molec...
